Gjording started his career at Microsoft, where he held various product management and product marketing roles, including working on Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Commerce Server, the company’s first foray into e-commerce. He later worked at a local services startup that was acquired by iSoftStone, a Chinese IT offshoring provider. Gjording also served as a Technology Director at Nordstrom, where he led e-commerce technology teams focused on personalization, mobile applications, and loyalty technologies. He received his bachelor’s degree and MBA from the University of Washington.
